Eurovision 2027: Netherlands' 3 Reported Acts Revealed

Eurovision 2027: Netherlands' 3 Reported Acts Revealed

By Sidra Salman · October 24, 2026

If you have been waiting to find out who will sing for the Netherlands at Eurovision 2027, we finally have names to argue about. Dutch newspaper AD has reported that three acts are in contention: Davina Michelle, Tangarine, and Marnix Emanuel. Eurovision news sites Eurovoix and ESCBeat picked up the AD report on October 23, 2026, and the story has been doing the rounds among Dutch Eurovision fans ever since.

Let me be clear about one thing before we go any further: none of these three names is official yet. NPO has not announced an artist, and it has not announced a song. What AD reported is that these three acts are the front-runners, not that one of them has already been picked. That distinction matters, because Eurovision rumour season has a habit of turning a shortlist into a done deal within a day.

What AD actually reported

According to AD, the three acts are the same three that reached the final stage of the Dutch selection for Eurovision 2026. That selection never got a winner, because broadcaster AVROTROS withdrew the Netherlands from the 2026 contest in December 2025 in protest at Israel's continued participation. The Dutch entry for 2026 was therefore never completed, and the three finalists were left without a contest to sing in.

Now the Netherlands is coming back for Eurovision 2027, set to take place in Burgas, Bulgaria. AD also reports that Claudia van der Pas will lead the Dutch delegation, continuing a role she held for 2025. ESCBeat reports that NPO will oversee the participation, with NOS handling the broadcast and commentary — a change from recent years, when AVROTROS was traditionally responsible for the Dutch entry.

Eurovoix adds a warning worth repeating: there are still significant tensions within NPO and its broadcasters about competing in the contest, and any act selected is likely to face serious public scrutiny. Whoever takes this job will not just be singing a song. They will be answering questions about a contest that has become genuinely divisive in the Netherlands, on one of the biggest stages in Europe.

The three acts in contention

Davina Michelle: the obvious favourite

Davina Michelle is the name most Eurovision fans will recognise first. She broke through in 2018 with her first number one single, "Duurt te lang", and has since released four studio albums and scored three number one singles. She also performed as an interval act at Eurovision 2021 in Rotterdam, singing "The Power of Water" to a home crowd.

Her name comes up almost every time the Netherlands starts talking about Eurovision. She has the voice, the stage presence, and the catalogue to carry a three-minute performance. But she has also been honest about how complicated this decision would be. Speaking to De Telegraaf in comments reported on October 14, she called a Eurovision 2027 appearance a difficult decision, said she had not confirmed any contact with NPO, and pointed to her busy schedule. She also said she supports the Netherlands returning and believes music should bring people together, while admitting she had not settled her own position on the controversy around the contest. She has not said yes, and she has not said no.

Tangarine: the folk duo with a story

Tangarine are a duo made up of twin brothers Arnout and Sander Brinks. They have been performing for more than a decade and broke through in 2014, building a following with harmony-driven folk music that sounds nothing like a typical Eurovision entry. That is exactly what could make them interesting: a stripped-back folk performance from two brothers singing in close harmony would look and sound very different from the big pop productions around it.

The risk is just as obvious. Folk acts can get lost in a contest built for spectacle, and Tangarine would need a song strong enough to hold a huge arena without a wall of staging behind it. But the Netherlands has won before with a quiet song: Duncan Laurence's "Arcade" in 2019 trusted the vocal and the melody more than the staging.

Marnix Emanuel: the rising star

Marnix Emanuel is the least established name on the shortlist, and that might be his advantage. He had his breakthrough hit in 2019 with "Right Through Me" and has since performed in the Netherlands and internationally. He is the kind of artist Eurovision often turns into a star overnight: talented enough to deserve the stage, but not so famous that the contest feels like a victory lap.

Why these three, and why now

The logic behind the shortlist makes sense once you know the backstory. These three acts had already survived the Dutch selection process for 2026, so picking up where that selection left off is faster and less risky than starting a brand new selection from scratch, especially when the broadcaster arrangements for 2027 are still being settled.

That also explains the timing. The Netherlands still has to settle who runs the selection, who broadcasts the contest, and how the entry is chosen. Reports that broadcasters have asked NPO to clarify the budget, consultation process, and criteria behind the 2027 participation show those conversations are still live. Until they are settled, a shortlist is all anyone can honestly report.

It is also worth remembering what the Netherlands is returning to. The country debuted at Eurovision in 1956 and has won five times, most recently in 2019 with Duncan Laurence's "Arcade". Expectations for a comeback entry are high.

What happens next

The honest answer is that we wait for NPO. An official announcement could confirm one of these three names, or surprise everyone with a completely different artist. What I will be watching for is simple: an NPO statement naming the artist, a song reveal date, and word on how the entry was chosen. Until then, trust only the word "reportedly". I will update this story the moment NPO makes it official.
